Freeform Felt Hat

Learn how to make a 1920's style cloche hat that perfectly fits you. In this two-day workshop, milliner Jasmin Zorlu will guide you through the exciting art of 'Freeform Draping’. Using steam and your fingers, manipulate a pre-formed fur felt hood on a standard wooden hat form and then hand-stitch it. No machine stitching skills are needed, only basic hand-stitching skills. Jasmin Zorlu has been making Sculptural Headwear since 1992. She has been teaching workshops in the art of freeform draping since 2001, in New York City & the Bay Area. Locally, she has taught at Apparel Arts, Lacis, and SomArts. Her hats have sold in Barney’s and all over the world. Most recently, she designed hats for the bay area hat company, Goorin Brothers.

"I believe anyone will be pleased with the skills they learn in any class taught by Jasmin Zorlu. You will go home with a one-of-a-kind hat you'll be excited to wear! Jasmin's instruction is clear and she will lead you through the hatmaking process step by step. She has a serious interest in making sure all her students understand exactly what to do. A great artist and a great teacher. I highly recommend her classes."
